The 14th edition of the auto expo will see more launches than its previous edition, said Sugato Sen, Deputy Director General, So-ciety of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Organisers expect as many product launches as in the previous edition, in February 2016, at 106. But there will be more than 25 new launches in this edi-tion. Last time, new vehicle launches were fewer than 15, said Arun Malhotra, Chairman, SIAM Trade Fair Group. On the absence of some vehicle-makers, he. said: "Companies may skip due to strategic reasons. Cost is not the issue... the rates of the stall have been constant and financial cost may not be the major reason." "Our problem is our suc-cess. Auto Expo has now be-come one of top events and that has put the show on a different level - A category. Hence we have to do things according to 'A category' standards," added Sen. This year's expo will see the participation of Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mer-cedes Benz, Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda Cars, SML Isuzu, Renault, Hyundai, Toyota- Kirloskar, Hero Moto-Corp, Ashok Leyland, TVS Motor, HMSI, Piaggio, BMW, BMW Motorrad, MINI, Honda Motorcycles and Scooter, India Yamaha, IBM Auto and Suzuki Motor-cycles, among others. This year the focus will be on the "entire mobility eco-System", with the theme of 'Co-Create, Co-Exist and Cel-ebrate'. The last edition at-tracted more than 6-lakh footfalls, with 65 manufac-turers from across the globe exhibiting products.
